NEW DELHI, INDIA: Ericsson has signed an agreement with Sterlite Technologies, a provider of transmission solutions for the telecom and power industries, to work together in driving smart sustainable city initiatives in India in line with government’s vision of Digital India.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will collaborate with Sterlite to design a roadmap and deploy solutions and services required to create a fully functioning knowledge-based society. The solutions covered in the agreement includes communications (wi-fi networks and fiber deployment), public safety (video situational awareness solutions and emergency response), intelligent transport (traffic management and fleet management) and smart grid solutions (smart grid communications and smart metering).

“Ericsson strives to connect everyone, wherever they may be, by acting as the prime driver for networked society – a society in which every person and every industry is empowered to reach their full potential. Energy and utilities, transport and automobile, and safety and security industries will benefit most from the networked society. There is a common need for ICT solutions within these industries that will further be enhanced by the growth of cloud based services,” said Chris Houghton, Head of Region India, Ericsson.
