New Update

BANGALORE: Epson has introduced the Epson EPL 5900L, designed for the small office and home segment. This is claimed, by the company, to be the first of its kind of printer, aimed significantly at reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to this segment.

The new printer cartridge contains enough toner to last 6,000 sheets of paper while the photoconductor unit will last for 20,000 sheets- more than twice as long as any other printer in this class. By keeping them as separate units, the EPSON EPL 5900L laser printer saves more money by ensuring that one does not have to replace both if one runs out. Separate developer cartridge and photoconductor units enable easy replacement.

Epson’s MicroGray and BiRITech technologies add dimensions to sharp, crisp monochrome laser printing. Together, the BiRITech (Bi-Resolution Improvement Technology) and MicroGray 1200 technologies deliver 1200-dpi class output using halftone algorithms for enhanced gray levels, and software interpolation for smoothing out jaggies to produce very sharp, anti-aliased text. It delivers 12 pages per minute with a first-page print out time of 15 seconds.

Offering multiple connectivity options, the EPSON EPL 5900L is ideal for both parallel and USB ports. For newer PCs featuring a USB connection, the EPL 5900L uses the latest plug and play USB 1.1 drivers. USB v1.1 eliminates the need to reinstall printer drivers when connecting to a PC using a different USB port. The EPSON EPL 5900L comes with drivers for Macintosh & Windows-based computers and enhances its business value in mixed-mode computing environments.

The Epson Status Monitor 3 utility helps one to keep track of the printer's status including toner levels and paper supplies. Epson India has appointed a set of sub-distributors for this model, Sogo Computers in Bangalore, Technocrat Infotech (P) Limited in Kolkata, Kadam Marketing Limited in Delhi, Growmore Computer Services in Mumbai and Spark Computers Services Pvt. Ltd in Ludhiana/Chandigarh
