Epson announced the launch of Epson Stylus Photo 1390 A3+ printer, targeted at the demands of design houses, small businesses and photography enthusiasts. The Epson Stylus Photo 1390 uses low-cost genuine cartridge by sporting a six-colors INKdividual cartridge system. This means users only need to replace the colors that have depleted instead of changing the full set of color inks all at once.
To offer users best quality prints, the printer is capable of maximum print resolutions of up to 5,760 x 1,440dpi (dots per inch). This is coupled with Epson's variable sized droplet technology (VSDT) dispenses five different ink droplet sizes according to image requirements.
Epson Stylus Photo 1390 prints at speeds of 15 ppm (pages per minute) for both monochrome and colors printouts. When printing A3 glossy full colors prints, the new printer takes just 173 seconds, more than 250 percent faster than its predecessor.
The printer is supported by a variety of glossy, semi-gloss and matte media to meet the demands of users and comes bundled with software for flexibility and ease of use. Users can choose between five color output modes (Epson vivid, photo enhance, Adobe RGB, Epson standard, and no colors adjustment) to suit the nature of the source material for optimum image quality.
Most notably, the Adobe RGB support for SLR class digital printing and RAW file support is a welcome inclusion for users as it supports a wider gamut of colors and optimises colors in digital prints for even greater colors accuracy. Epson's creativity suite provides common photo correction and enhancement tools to easily alter images in areas such as red-eye reduction and cropping.
To facilitate large digital image file transfer via PC and printer, the Epson Stylus Photo 1390 replaces the old USB 2.0 full-speed and parallel ports with the ubiquitous USB2.0 high-speed port for fast file transfers.
The Epson Stylus Pro 1390 is available from May 2007.
