In a recent press release, EPFO will now allow employers to use e-signatures via email. Initially, employers did tasks like KYC attestation, transfer claim attestation etc with the help of  Digital Signatures (DSC) or Aadhar based e-Signs on EPFO portal. But due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, many people are facing issues in using DCS or Aadhar based e-Signs. This problem is not allowing employers to function normally like sending one-time registration requests to the Regional Offices.

What will EPFO do?

Considering the situation, EPFO has decided to accept such requests through emails. An employer can send the scanned copy of the duly signed request letter to the concerned Regional Office through the mail. Official email addresses of the Regional Offices are available at www.epfindia.gov.in.

Further, establishments who are not able to locate authorized officers can log in to the employer portal. There, he/she can register their e-sign through the link for registration. This link will be available to already registered authorized signatories. Also, the name of the recipient against the approved digital signature can be the same as the Aadhar. In that case, the registration of e-sign will not require any further approval.
