The expansion of leadership in the region reflects the growing interest and demand among large technology companies and systems integrators for an alternative to costly, traditional database solutions, as per the announcement.

Commenting on the new appointment, Sean Doherty, Vice President, Business Development and International Sales, said, "Systems integrators and large technology vendors play an important role in the region among governments and corporations. They're interested in our ability to slash database costs and increase their profits when our products are part of their solutions. Ashutosh brings a compelling mix of business development and strategic partnership experience in the database industry. With Ashutosh now on board, we have a strong leader in place to expand our capacity to support our partners and forge new alliances."

Ashutosh joined EnterpriseDB from C-Edge Technologies, where he held a similar role managing partner sales. Prior to that, he was an executive at Oracle. He held multiple leadership roles in strategic alliances and channel development in India and the APAC region at Oracle for nine years and was ultimately appointed Senior Director, Alliances. He joined Oracle after four years with IBM India. Ashutosh holds an engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology and completed his post-graduate studies in international business at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

"I see a huge opportunity for EnterpriseDB as traditional vendors continue to pressure their customers with difficult licensing terms and high prices. EnterpriseDB gives technology partners an opportunity to create more cost-effective solutions for their customers and realize a greater return," said Ashutosh Sarkar, Senior Director- Partner Sales and Alliances (INDIA, ASEAN & ANZ).

EnterpriseDB has recorded compounded annual growth of 84 per cent in sales over the past two years with more than 100 customers in the Indian corporate and government sectors. The growth is attributed in a large part to e-Governance initiatives across the country and the increasing preference for open source technologies with enterprise-class support.
