The collaboration is designed to modernize Star Health’s claims operations, making them more agile and scalable in the face of rising claim volumes. By adopting the MAtrix platform, Star Health aims to deliver faster, more transparent, and consistent claims outcomes while minimizing manual interventions and process bottlenecks. The platform introduces intelligent automation, reducing redundancies and streamlining workflows for stronger turnaround performance across the insurer’s hospital network and policyholder base.

Driving Claims Transformation with AI and Automation

Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health and Allied Insurance, emphasized the strategic importance of the move: “This marks a major step forward in strengthening our in-house claim management capabilities. This partnership is a key milestone in our journey to build a more agile and technology-driven claims ecosystem. Claims are at the heart of the insurance experience, and with Medi Assist’s platform, we are enhancing speed, accuracy, and consistency, while keeping a keen eye on fraud, waste and abuse. By reducing manual interventions and standardising processes, we aim to strengthen efficiency and reinforce trust with our policyholders. This, along with other initiatives being undertaken at Star Health Insurance, will ensure our focus remains on delivering transparent, reliable, and customer-first claims service that meets the evolving needs of the health insurance and healthcare landscape.”

Satish Gidugu, CEO of Medi Assist, added, “We are excited to collaborate on this transformative journey. This partnership is set to redefine industry standards in technology-driven insurance operations, ensuring an exceptional policyholder experience.”

Enhancing Accuracy, Engagement, and Interoperability

One of the key benefits of the MAtrix platform is its rules- and configuration-based engine, which ensures standardized claims adjudication and reduces subjectivity in decision-making. The platform’s AI-powered co-pilot capabilities enable claims teams to work more efficiently, make data-informed decisions, and detect fraud early using machine learning tools. This leads to more accurate outcomes and better protection of the claims ecosystem.

Additionally, customer engagement is expected to improve through AI-driven chatbots, virtual assistants, and omnichannel support via mobile apps and WhatsApp. A unified API-based architecture allows secure, real-time data exchange between insurers, hospitals, and the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), creating a seamless ecosystem for all stakeholders.

This partnership not only strengthens Star Health’s operational capabilities but also represents a broader step forward in India’s digital health insurance evolution—combining technology, efficiency, and a sharper focus on policyholder outcomes.
