EmTech Spl: The knowledge lamp burns

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The inaugural session of Emtech India 2009, the celebrated MIT technology conference kicked off in New Delhi.

The conference, the first outside MIT campus, has been launched in India jointly by MIT's 'Technology Review' magazine and CyberMedia India Ltd, South Asia's largest specialty publication house. The event also marked the launching of the magazine in India.

The inaugural welcome speech was delivered by Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, CyberMedia Group and followed by words of wisdom by Jason Pontin, Editor in chief and Publisher, MIT Technology Review.

While both talked about the the emergence of India as a knowledge nation, Gupta emphasized the need of making technology the differentiator in these turbulent times. He also identified technologies like Cloud Computing and Nanotech as the technologies of tomorrow and set the stage for the thought provoking session that is to follow.

Pontin, in his remark, articulated why India has the right ingredients to create solutions for the people who are at bottom of the pyramid, for the entire world.
