NEW DELHI: empowerTel Networks, supplier of system solutions for the
converging networking and telecommunications market, has inaugurated its
Advanced Next-Generation Network (NGN) Development Center in Delhi. Apart from
functioning as the complete development arm for empowerTel's leading edge
USX1000 product line, it will be one of the first labs in India to work on the
carrier class VoIP switch technology involving latest and emerging standards.
The center will also be instrumental in supporting switch deployment in
the Asia-Pacific region, including supervising trials with Indian telecom
service providers. "Our India facility will serve as an advanced NGN
Development Center for future innovative development work for empowerTel
worldwide," said Raj Saksena, CTO and Vice-President, Business Development,
empowerTel Networks. "Built on the model of Bell Labs, this NGN facility
will be the most advanced VoIP telecom lab in India," he added.
The India facility will play a key role in providing support in upcoming
customer trials, product deployments and on-going support thereafter in the
Southeast Asia and parts of Asia Pacific. "The India lab is fully equipped
to test, demonstrate and support USX 1000 functionality to our customers,"
elaborates Saksena.
EmpowerTel India Advanced Next-Generation Networks Development Center
has been set-up with an estimated investment of US $4 million and
incorporates a full-fledged telecom test and simulation lab in the
17,000 sq. ft. fully integrated facility. It will house about 100 telecom
professionals by the year end, of which almost 35 are already in place.
