MUMBAI: Emerson has acquired Tata Liebert Corporation at Rs 76 crore or Rs
170 per share.
Tata Liebert was a joint venture between Tata and Liebert Corporation.
Pradipta Sen, president, Emerson India, said in Mumbai that the new business
would be combined with other key Emerson operations in India to function as a
division within the Emerson Network Power group. It would offer a full range of
Emerson products for designing, building and supporting network energy
infrastructure, he said.
Some of the products on offer would include uninterrupted power supply
systems, climate and environmental systems, DC power systems, automatic transfer
switches and power distribution units.
According to David Farr, CEO, Emerson, their expansion through this deal with
Tata was part of the strategy to develop worldwide leadership in certain
segments. He believed that this was the right time to increase the company's
activity in India as various industries viz., telecommunications, process and
industrial markets were showing strong growth.
Gene Hayden, vice president, Liebert APAC said, "By integrating
divisions through Emerson Network Power India and building on their synergies,
we can serve our customers better with industry-leading products, from brands
like Liebert, Emerson energy Systems and Asco power technologies."
