BANGALORE: EMC Corporation has announced a wide range of major new
enhancements to EMC ControlCenter, Navisphere, EMC MirrorView and EMC SnapView
software platforms all of which are registered trademark products of the
company. The technology advances are targeted directly at information
consolidation and information protection.
"Through the AutoIS strategy and resulting software innovations, EMC
continues to help customers clear the high hurdles of information consolidation
and protection," said, EMC's executive vice president, Storage Platforms
Operations, David Donatelli. "The announcements incorporate advanced
CLARiiON enterprise storage technology to address these very real business needs
while sharply reducing total cost of ownership for customers' information
resources."
The new software will be available in 30 days and extends the EMC CLARiiON
enterprise storage system's position as a platform for continuous innovation.
Included are: EMC ControlCenter Navisphere software - a new Navisphere v.6.0
Web-enabled interface helps customers drive down management costs through the
secure and remote management of CLARiiON systems from a standard Internet
connection -anywhere in the world. Elimination of a required management station
results in further cost savings and improved availability.
Additional Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology, user
classification, identification and authorization features provide unparalleled
security for network-based storage management. EMC MirrorView software provides
synchronous data mirroring between geographically separated CLARiiON FC4700
systems for disaster recovery and business continuance. New enhancements now
enable CLARiiON to use the same port for host application traffic and MirrorView
remote mirroring traffic.
Disaster Recovery Consolidation is a single CLARiiON system capable of
serving as a consolidated business continuity target for up to four source
CLARiiON systems. Customers can now perform consolidated backups, simplified
failover, consolidated remote processing activities, and remote bunkering from a
single CLARiiON system.
EMC SnapView software enables production applications to remain online while
logical point-in-time SnapView "snapshots" are created
non-disruptively for backups and parallel processing activities. The new
SnapView v.1.3 now supports creation of up to eight active snapshots per
CLARiiON FC4700 logical unit (LUN). This advancement enables customers to
perform multiple simultaneous processes - such as backups, decision support
queries, and data warehouse refreshes -- against the same data, at the same
time, resulting in greatly improved operational efficiencies.
