EMC integrates Avamar with Data Domain

HOPKINTON, USA: Data storage vendor EMC Corporation announced EMC Avamar 6.0 deduplication back-up software.

This major new release provides the first integration with EMC Data Domain deduplication storage systems.

According to the company, for VMware administrators, Avamar 6.0 significantly increases speed and efficiency leveraging the latest advances in VMware vSphere technology for up to 3x the back-up speed of its nearest competitor according to performance tests done by EMC.

The company also claims that the Avamar Data Store systems now offer > 2x the capacity of prior systems, and Data Domain systems can provide additional capacity for selected workloads.
