EMC hires Intel executive Patrick Gelsinger: WSJ

BANGALORE: EMC Corp has hired Patrick Gelsinger, head of Intel's core chip business, to run its storage-products operations and some smaller software units, the Wall Street Journal said.

The paper said the appointment is effective immediately and EMC is expected to make the announcement on Monday.

EMC also promoted Howard Elias and he will now head the company's services division, the Journal reported.

Both EMC and Intel were unavailable for comment outside regular business hours.

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that Intel is expected to reveal a sweeping management change on Monday. The announcement would also include Pat Gelsinger's leaving the organization, the newspaper reported.
