Email threatens to blow up BSE, NSE

MUMBAI, INDIA: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) received a threat mail on Monday forcing the authorities to deploy heavy security on its premises.

The email received in the official mailbox of BSE on Monday morning challenged the security agencies to prevent a terror attack.

According to police, the e-mail said Pakistani-based terror outfit, Lashkar-e-Toiba was planning a terror strike on BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE).

“10 terrorists of the LASHKARETAIYEBA have planned to strike the BSE and NSE at 12.55 hours on date today. We dare Indian forces to prevent us from doing so. Moreover, 5 men have already entered the premises of BSE on date,” the mail read.

According to the police it was a hoax mail intended to create panic and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the sender has been traced to Patna. The email was received at BSE's administrative email ID corp.relations@bseindia.com.

Police and cyber crime investigation cell are conducting investigation.
