After capturing the world's imagination by launching world-class electric cars and space rockets, Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX is entering a newer market: Flamethrowers. Musk confirmed that the Boring Company is selling a flamethrower for $500.
Obviously, a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one.

Founded in late 2016, the Boring Company's mission is to bring down the cost of underground tunneling. But while it's working on that, it has become a platform for Musk to launch goofy side projects. Last year, Musk sold 50,000 Boring Company hats for $20 a piece. The idea of selling flamethrowers originated when Musk promised his Twitter followers he would do so if Boring sold 50,000 hats.
The flamethrowers are available for pre-order at $500 each, which doesn't include the optional $30 for a matching fire extinguisher. Musk assured consumers on Twitter that he wasn't trying to mastermind doomsday to generate sales.
When asked about the product's legality, Musk said, "ATF says any flamethrower with a flame shorter than 10 ft is A-ok." The company said in a statement that its product is shorter than 10 feet.
Boring Company will ship flamethrowers out in the spring, according to their website.
