Oracle chief Larry Ellison had a bad year by some standards. His salary
declined 94 per cent from $3.75 million in wages and bonuses to just $208,000.
But not all news was bleak for Ellison, whose Oracle stock is already worth more
than the Microsoft stock owned by Bill Gates.

Ellison received an option to buy 20 million shares of Oracle stock in a deal
that would add close to half a billion dollars to his net worth over time. Last
year, Ellison received options on 3 million shares. Ellison already owns 696
million shares of the company, worth $58 billion, just ahead of the $54 billion
worth of Gates’ 787 million Microsoft shares.
