The two new Hercules LaunchPad development kits from Texas Instruments have been created to allow design engineers to explore the TI Hercules Safety MCUs and evaluate the MCUs' safety features specifically around the IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 functional safety standards. The development kits deliver scalable performance, connectivity, memory and safety features for the TMS570 and RM4x series of ARM Cortex based MCUs, and are available from element14 at LaunchXL-RM42 and LaunchXL-TMS57004.

The new Freescale Freedom development platform, the FRDM-KE02Z is a low-cost development platform designed for rugged EMI performance applications based on the Kinetis E series of MCUs. Featuring the Cortex M0+ Kinetis E Series microcontroller KE02Z64VQH2, the industry's first microcontroller built on the ARM Cortex-M0+ core, the FRDM-KE02Z Freedom development platform offers design engineers robust, 5V tolerant EMC/ESD performance, making it the ideal platform for noisy environments.

A product demo not to be missed is the great value 8GB Raspberry Pi bundle which incorporates a Raspberry Pi B Board and an 8GB SD card with all six of the official Raspberry Pi Foundation approved operating systems preloaded on the memory card. The 8GB SD card provides users with all the space they need to create and store their Raspberry Pi projects.

In addition the PiRack, an exclusive carrier card allows users to connect multiple I/O boards, including Embedded Pi and PiFace Digital to the Raspberry Pi. PiRack's ability to connect up to four expansion boards makes it ideal for the classroom and offers users increased flexibility in their development projects. One PiRack can host four expansion boards but it can also be daisy chained to provide even more expansion.

The Pi Rack is available from element14.
