electronic India 2008 marches ahead

BANGALORE, INDIA: The Indian and international electronics industry was present in full might at electronicIndia 2008 held at Bangalore from 2-5 th Sept at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center. electronicIndia proved to be the largest trade fair for the electronic components, assemblies, materials  and production equipment with 1010 exhibitors including agents and principals thereof 446 direct exhibitors and a total of 16,000sqm of space.

There was participation from 25 countries with Germany, the UK, Taiwan, Singapore and China with their own pavilions. Companies like Siemens, Infineon, Juki, Assembleon, Samsung, Tyco, JAM, NXP, Farnell, EPCOS, etc., displayed their state-of-the-art technologies.

There were over 12,300 visitors and over 4,500 attendees i.e., close to 17,000 focussed attendees in all. Siemens Marketing Director Ms Irene Lim stated, “The response was not only from Bangalore but also from the western and northern parts of India." Soni Saran Singh from NM Tronics confirmed, “The inflow of visitors has been very good from the start and it has generated a lot of queries and flow of information to our customers."

The trade fair not only had quantity but also quality of visitors. There were an impressive number of business transactions concluded at the trade fair. Suresh Nair from Leaptech Corp. said: “I am extremely happy with the pre show publicity, which is of international standards and have already concluded some transactions." Ms. Patsy Cheok from Assembleon added, “The advertising for the show was beyond imagination and therefore the response to the trade fair has been so positive."

Wang from Retronix UK added, “This is our first time in India, and with the response and leads that we have received from the show, we will be setting up our factory at Bangalore or Chennai, and we will definitely return next year." Seo from Samsung said, “The show size and environment is very good. We participate only in one exhibition in India and electronicIndia is the show for us.”

Electronic India 2008 entered into a strategic partnership with IPCA and the response has been very encouraging. Anil Kumar, President of IPCA, noted, “I am happy with the format of working together and we are very satisfied with the response of visitors."

Three high profile conferences took place simultaneously with electronic India 2008. It began with a panel discussion on the opening day of the trade fair with the top management from EMS/OEMs and ODMs, business opportunities and challenges in India, with speakers from Jabil, Nokia, Dell, Siemens, Assembleon and NM Tronics.

Also held were two other conferences along with the trade fair, Automotive Symposium and Electronics Tools and Design. They generated a very positive response. There were speakers from Siemens, OK international, Infineon with over 100 delegates for each conference. Ms Swee Hong from Infineon stated, “The conference was excellent with a very good response from the delegates and the topics chosen were of due importance."

Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director, Messe Muenchen International noted: “The show has fulfilled all the promises of being India’s leading trade show.We are happy with the performance of our MMI India subsidiary, and look forward to strengthening our activities in India."

Manmeet Sabarwal, Managing Director, MMI India Pvt Ltd has played a pivotal role in taking electronicIndia2008 to its current status. He said: "The Indian sub continent is generating an immense amount of interest within the electronics industry. This offers an excellent potential for electronicIndia at its new location in Bangalore in the heart of the leading high-tech regions of the world."

Speaking about the show he also said that, this is not “conventional” service, but an opportunity for continuous presence.

The next electronicIndia 2009 will take place at Bangalore International exhibition Center from 8-11 September 2009.
