BANGALORE: elcom.com, the wholly-owned technology e-business subsidiary of Elcom International, Inc, has been named a premiere E-services Internet Procurement Partner of Hewlett Packard. Now, HP can refer elcom.com's solution to mutual prospective customers who want to minimize their capital investment in equipment and quickly establish an online presence..

PECOS Internet Procurement Manager (PECOS.ipm), the world's first remotely hosted, Internet-based e-procurement system, is powered by HP servers and storage systems. It currently stores 2TB of data, maintains a highly available application environment, and requires scalability in the IT infrastructure to keep pace with the company's growth. Said Robert J. Crowell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Elcom International, "We're leveraging HP's leadership position in e-services to further enhance our networking capabilities within the global corporate community."

Since last November, elcom.com has maintained its Oracle(R) databases of customer and financial data on a HP SureStore E Disk Array XP256 with MC/ServiceGuard. The XP256 is interfaced to both HP-UX(1) and HP NetServer systems. elcom.com estimates that the installation, which was designed with the help of HP Consulting, saved the company up to $1million in hardware, backup systems, staffing and support costs because it lets elcom.com consolidate its databases on a single XP256 system.

Elcom.com licenses its PECOS technologies to Elcom Services Group's customers and to other companies. elcom.com also operates an Internet storefront through which it offers PC-oriented and office products using the Company's electronic commerce and automated procurement and sourcing technology.
