Elbit Systems selected to provide secure broadband services solution

FORT WORTH, USA: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Group selected Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., to provide a technology demonstrator for a secure broadband services solution for first responders.

The solution, based on capabilities developed in Elbit Systems Land and C4I division incorporates also the proven BlackBerry 10 secure workspace within an Android smartphone and will demonstrate an advanced interoperable communication solution for many Federal agencies as well as state and local public safety authorities nationwide.

Elbit's solution will enable any-to-any secure, interoperable, multimedia services with seamless connectivity between various commercial broadband cellular networks, FirstNet LTE Band 14 and the existing P25 LMR infrastructure.

Services supported by Elbit's solution include Push to Talk (PTT), Push to Video (PTV), voice and video conferencing, video streaming, situation awareness data (command and control), LMR and telephone connectivity, as well as Ad-Hoc mesh network capabilities.

DHS will use this solution to test the new LTE broadband network with various mission critical secure multimedia services for public safety users. Following the integration and proof of concept phase, DHS will proceed with field tests within selected homeland security components.
