BANGALORE: EFI, provider of digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, has announced that it would double its headcount at its R&D center in India by this year-end. EFI's development center located in Bangalore is currently employing 100 people. In addition, EFI is looking at distributors and resellers with experience in providing solutions to the graphic arts, pre-press and commercial printing industry.

EFI CEO, Guy Gecht said, "Our Bangalore office is the largest R&D effort outside the US and is being scaled up to better manage the development of some of our key software products and solutions."

EFI Country Head, Atul Saran also launched Colorproof XF in India, which is the company's client/server-based proofing solution platform. It features expanded proofing functionality and performance with cross Windows and Mac OS X support.

Commenting on the relevance of Colorproof XF for the Indian printing industry, Saran said, "Though the Indian printing industry has grown tremendously in recent years, there are still many printers who burn up time and resources providing their customers with contract proofs. With greater competition, most printers are looking for ways to improve quality and shorten turnaround times, while increasing profits. Colorproof XF is a huge step towards this, enabling contract level proofs at significantly lower costs and in less time. It is also easy to use, allowing even inexperienced users to achieve top-notch proofing results."
