Educomp wins Rs 120 crore worth Govt orders

MUMBAI, INDIA: Educomp Solutions Limited, an education solutions provider, said it has received orders worth Rs 120 crore from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh and Assam for a total of 2,042 schools. In a letter to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company informed about these orders.

“We are very pleased to achieve our target of 12,000 schools for this year under ICT implementation, a quarter in advance. Educomp is proud to partner with various state governments to bring the joys of technology-aided learning to children across the length and breadth of India,” said Shantanu Prakash, CEO and managing director, Educomp Solutions.

Commenting on the order, Soumya Kanti, president ICT at Educomp said, “These orders are a reaffirmation of Educomp's leadership in the area of ICT implementation under public-private-partnership model.”

She said the company is committed to expanding its reach and empowering children in government schools to access high quality education on par with children in private schools.

According to the letter, Educomp has received work orders from Education Director (Secondary) Lucknow, capital of UP for implementation of computer education and computer aided educations in 1401 schools in four zones namely Lucknow (372), Meerut (380), Jhansi (369), Gorakhpur (280) for a period of five years on BOOT basis.

Further, about the UP orders, the company will supply computer hardware, software and connected accessories and provide computer aided education in specified government/government aided high schools and intermediate colleges from classes VI to XII for a five year contract where one full time instructor per school will be made available.

Moreover, along with supplying training courseware for each school, the company will also facilitate electricity and Internet connection per school under the contract for five-year term, the letter stated. In Assam, the company has received a letter of intent from Axom Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA).

Mission for imparting training and for engagement of Technical Para teacher in 641 schools. With these new orders, the total schools under ICT implementation in Educomp's portfolio has gone up to 12,012.
