NEW YORK: Electronic Data Systems Corp. said in a regulatory filing made on Monday, that it could cut more jobs than the 2,700 it had previously announced as it looks for new areas to slash costs.
Plano, Texas-based EDS, which last month reported that second-quarter profit was cut in half as it had trouble signing new computer services deals, said it may reduce its work force by more than 2 percent.
EDS said in June it would cut 2,700 jobs and pursue the sale of assets outside of its main business of information technology and business process outsourcing.
Shares of EDS fell 19 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $21.93 in Tuesday early afternoon trade.
