Edimax extends operations in India

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Edimax Technology, a provider in network communication products, announced on Monday that it is going to ramp up its operations in the Indian market.

The company has appointed Ravians Kumar as director Sales-India, OBM Sales Division to take care of whole region and very soon there would be four business development managers onboard to represent four regions – Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata, said a press release.

The company also has invested in opening its corporate office at Nehru Place, New Delhi and has also appointed two national distributors, i.e. Jupiter International Ltd and Neoteric Informatiqe Ltd, to make the products available across various markets, it added.

Hunter Chen, sales director, OBM Sales Division, Edimax, said, “In order to make the sell-in and sell-out smooth, Edimax has plans to appoint 30 sub-distributors across the country by December 2008 and they have already appointed 13 sub-distributors in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Baroda."

He added that the company is looking at B- and C-class cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, Guwahati, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Kochi and Trichi to appoint rest of the sub-distributors.

“In order to further address the complaints and warranty issues of customers, the company by the end of this month will have a 24/7 toll free telephone number. This will also resolve the pre and post installation queries from the customers,” Hunter added.

Hunter said, “Our distributors will only take care of logistics and finance and the rest part, we will do in terms of marketing, sales and services. In three years time, we will have at least 15 – 20 per cent share in the active networking market.”
