The economic impact of virtualization on Indian biz

BANGALORE, INDIA:  The IDC Datacenter Economies Index estimates that virtualization will help Indian businesses avoid spending $5.5 Billion by 2020. This comprises savings in a few key areas such as hardware, admin, real estate, power and cooling costs.

Below is an infographic by VMware based on the IDC study  showing the 'Impact of Virtualization' in India.

• $2.8 billion in hardware spending savings due to servers avoided. Hardware spending refers to the customer revenue generated from the sale of physical hardware.
• $1.8 billion in hardware admin costs avoided. This refers to hardware admin costs avoided and includes IDC's estimate of the cost of people and overheads needed to manage each physical hardware component.

• $805 million in power and cooling savings due to servers avoided. This refers to cost of energy to power and cool a physical hardware in the datacenter.
• $65 million in real estate and maintenance fees avoided. This refers to the land or construction and maintenance cost associated in housing a physical hardware.
