The service will be available in Chennai by next week,

after being introduced in Mumbai. The service will soon be extended to all major cities in

a phased manner. KS Sreekumar, Head of Chennai operations, Easy Call, said, "We have

a reach in 25 cities across the country and a distribution network of 2,000 dealers, 600

direct sales force and all the logistics to support the services." Easy Call offers

the service in two schemes, PageMail and PagePlus, that can be made available to existing

subscribers of VSNL and Easy Call. The subscribers need not necessarily have a PC or email

account.

Explaining the schemes, Sreekumar said, "With PageMail

service, a customer who does not own a PC or have an email account can receive email

messages through the pager. Designed for the existing Internet users is PagePlus that

enables messages to be delivered to the pager of the subscriber, similar to the concept of

paging."

In addition to the regular subscription fee that the

customers pay for VSNL internet access and pager service, this service will cost an

additional fee of Rs 1,200 per year. Out of this, VSNL earns Rs 1,000 and the balance goes

to Easy Call. The company charges Rs 200 for 60 messages and an additional charge of Rs 2

is collected for every additional message thereafter.
