Eager for ''E''

PUNE: The alphabets of the wireless story are in the shuffle mode again. Brovis Wireless Networks is working on the leap from D to E in its WiMax script and to roll out the 802.16 E standard.

Brovis would also be announcing its WiMax product line soon, while a Dynamic mesh line offering is expected in the next quarter.

Talking to CyberMedia News, Muthu Logan, founder and CEO, Brovis, revealed that the 16 E version would be a significant technology upgrade though he refrained from divulging more details.

"The 802.16 D standard was mainly for fixed line operators and has not caught on very well. It was late in adoption and has not gained much traction with the Telcos. The 16 E standard would be great for fixed wireless and is just picking momentum. It has just come into the picture and we would be in the first mover league in rolling out the same."

Brovis has recently received a second round of VC funds to the tune of $3 million from Parakletos. He added that the company would be actively spending in lab expansions, talent pool, partners, etc. for a slew of next generation products.

"We intend to keep raising the bar on technology with new markets, scalable wi-fi deployments and then WiMax offerings as we go ahead," shared Logan.
