DSO offers two-day program for high school students

DUBAI, UAE: Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the region’s premier integrated innovations hub for high-tech industries, announced that it hosted a two-day program highlighting the latest in electronic innovation design and development, as well as the most recent advancements in the sector, to over 60 high school students from Dubai.

Conducted for the second consecutive year and in collaboration with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s IT Education Project (ITEP), the largest IT training provider in the UAE, the program reiterated DSO’s commitment to the community while taking forward its long-term strategy of identifying future talent. The visit included a stopover to RIT – Dubai, one of the world’s leading universities along with a series of workshops and seminars comprising technology based educational sessions for personal and professional development.

A guided tour of the state-of-the-art Dubai Silicon Oasis site was also offered, giving students a preview of the destination for the semiconductor, microelectronic and other electronics-based companies. Senior DSOA officials also elaborated on the spectrum of services and facilities offered by the hub to companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development divisions in Dubai.

Commenting on this visit, Haidar Ali Director of People & Business Excellence - Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, said: “The two-day program was designed to educate students on the latest IT developments around the world and build technical competence. We consider such initiatives as highly crucial, particularly with technology education’s enabling role in shaping knowledge-based societies across the Middle East.”

“We encourage students to actively seek future internship and we are committed towards providing all the support to develop the local talents, which in return shall contribute to the country’s growth through technology research and development” Haidar added.

Professors and students acknowledged DSO’s gesture for providing hands-on experience and a deep insight into the industry.

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the government of Dubai and operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
