Broadband aggregation hardware revenue increased nine percent to $961 million in 2Q09 from 1Q09.

This is according to Infonetic Research's quarterly broadband hardware report.

Jeff Heynen, directing analyst, broadband and video, Infonetics Research, said: "After a miserable first quarter, the broadband aggregation DSL segment was bound to see some pickup in most of the major markets, and it did. There is typically an increase in DSL port shipments in the second quarter as winter weather recedes and deep fibre and outside plant deployments pick back up in North America and EMEA. This traditional increase, paired with the increased demand in the quarter, helped to lift the overall broadband aggregation market."

Report Highlights

Huawei held onto its worldwide revenue share lead in the quarter, despite ZTE's 10 percentage point increase.

Multiservice access platforms (MSAPs) continue to fare well, with worldwide revenue up 22 percent quarter over quarter and up 33 percent year-over-year, mainly due to big gains in Asia Pacific, and despite postponement of MSAP purchases in the US until the rules and definitions around the $7.2 billion Broadband Stimulus Package are clarified.

Infonetics' quarterly broadband hardware report provides worldwide and regional market size, market share, analysis, and forecasts through 2013, and includes customizable pivot tables.
