CHENNAI: Google Inc. today announced that computer scientist Dr Prasad Bhaarat Ram has been appointed to head engineering and site operations at the company’s R&D center in Bangalore.
Dr Ram, whose appointment is effective immediately, will lead engineering operations and product innovation at the centre.
“Dr Prasad Ram brings to Google a wealth of experience in technology development and organization building, as well as a deep knowledge of the local Indian market,” said Alan Eustace, vice president of Engineering at Google. "Under the leadership of Prasad, the Google India R&D center will develop even more innovative products and technologies for millions of Google users in India and around the world."
Dr Ram has over 15 years experience in computer science research and engineering, and has worked extensively in software and online industries. Before joining Google, he was chief technology officer at Yahoo! India Research and Development in Bangalore.
Dr Rao started his career as a research scientist at Xerox PARC and has a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT-Bombay and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
