Here's how to download a Digital Copy of Aadhaar Card or e-Aadhaar on your phone

The world is going digital. Why are we still stuck on paper copies? You can't carry your important documents, like Aadhaar Card, all the time. Especially during the pandemic when you have to juggle between masks and sanitizers and wallets?

Now, you can download the Aadhaar Card instantly on your smartphones effortlessly. This way, you will never lose it, and it always remains with you. As per UIDAI, from the UIDAI website, you can download Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar as a proof of identity.

Not just your original Aadhar Card, you can also download the paper you get before the real card. That way, even if you don't have the card, you will have the identity proof.

Further, you can also get the option of a mask digital copy of Aadhaar card. This masks the Aadhaar number in the digital copy of the Aadhaar card, which means the whole 12-digit UID is not visible in the digital copy.

You will need a smartphone, your Aadhar Card number and your registered mobile number. Oh! Don't forget the Internet!

How to download

- Go to the official website- https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.

- Fill in your Aadhaar number and enter the captcha.

- You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.

- After answering a few questions, click on verify.

- Your Aadhaar card can be downloaded in a PDF format.

- The PDF is protected with a password. You need to enter the password, to open it.

- The password will be first four letters of your name in the capital letters and the year you are born in. For example, if your name is Pooja Sharma and you were born in 1997, the password will be POOJ1997.
