Dover, NXP sound business deal delayed

BANGALORE, INDIA: Dutch chip maker NXP Semiconductors and U.S. manufacturer Dover Corp said non-U.S. and non-EU governmental antitrust regulator scrutiny would delay the sale of NXP's sound business to Dover.

In December, Dover said it would pay $855 million in cash for NXP Semiconductors's sound business, to expand into the market for speakers and receivers for mobile phones and consumer electronics.

The companies said due to the request for additional briefings from the regulator, the deal is now expected to close in middle of the second quarter of 2011. They had previously expected the deal to close by the end of the first quarter.

The companies did not say where the regulator was based.
