DoCoMo slips to last in Japan

BANGALORE, INDIA:DoCoMo has emerged last among operators in adding new subscribers in Japan during September month. The development comes at a time when the company, through its JV with Tata Teleservices - Tata DoCoMo - has emerged first in attracting new GSM subscribers in India during the August month.

DoCoMo, Japan was placed fourth with only 66,000 additions in September according the figures released Japan’s regulator Telecommunications Carriers Association (TCA).

As per the TCA figures Softbank had the highest additions at 108,000. The KDDI with 102,000 and Emboile’s 88,000 were placed second and third respectively.

However, DoCoMo is still the number 1 operator in the country with 55.1 million subscribers and more than 50 per cent market share.
