e-District project embraced by people in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR, ODISHA: The e-District project in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha which started along with Ganjam through Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the national e-Governance Plan has received a good response.

The e-district project aims at providing various citizen centric services were started on a pilot basis in 2011 in Mayurbhanj district.

The certificates issued under this project can be ascertained very easily by anybody after accessing the website www.edistrictorissa.gov.in.

On December 15, 2011, the e-district project was implemented in revenue circle-1 of Baripada tehsil. It was then rolled out in the whole district covering all RI circles. Post implementation of the project, various services like residence, income, cast (SC, ST, OBC, and SEBC), solvency, legal heir certificates will be issued in all circles across the district.

"Now we are able to issue seven kinds of certificates and other services will be implemented very shortly. Citizens are getting the benefits to apply and receive the services from the nearest Jana Seva Kendra or tehsil through this online process," a New India Express report quoted an official as saying.

According to Collector Rajesh Pravakar Patil, nearly, 200 Jana Seva Kendras were functioning in the district to provide the Government to Citizen (G2C) services to the citizens.

"More number of service centres will be made functional very shortly. e-District services will improve the efficiency in government service delivery and we hope that the citizens will avail the benefits and extend their efforts for more progress in this regard," the New Indian Express report quoted Patil, as saying.

To ensure the authenticity of the certificates, technologies like digital signature, ID and 2D barcodes are used in the certificate.
