PUNE: Independent testing and quality assurance company Disha Technologies plans to triple its manpower strength to 1200 by December 2005. The company, which presently employs 400 people has already chalked out an aggressive growth plan for its India operation.

With a $3 billion offshore testing market waiting to be tapped, the company that has been posting 100 percent growth rate consecutively for the past three years, expects to cross the 500-employee mark soon.

"There is an increasing trend towards offshore independent testing by companies. The independent testing market alone accounts for $ 600 million. With companies increasingly taking this route, we are positioning ourselves in this area for growth. Interestingly, even product companies are now taking this route," Disha executive director, Achyut Godbole explained.

He added that there are aggressive plans to tap the European market this year. "We are talking to potential partners and would like to tap the market through local partners. Whether this happens through a JV or an alliance is something that we still need to figure out," Godbole said.

The company has already procured a 100,000 sq. ft. plot at STPI Hinjewadi in Pune where it plans to build new testing labs and move its corporate office. The total built-up area will have a capacity to house more than 1,500 professionals. The new facility is expected to be ready over the next two years and would house 1,000 professionals. A testing lab with around 60 professionals is already in operation in Hyderabad and another testing lab is coming up in Mumbai next month.
