HYDERABAD: Discreet, an US-based division of Autodesk Inc., has launched two
new versions of its industry acclaimed products, 3Ds Max4 and Edit 6 in India.
3Ds Max4 deliver CG professionals with advanced tools for the character
animation, next generation games development and integrated visual effect
production. It supports the largest developer community of any 3D application
and integrated plug-in applications and is priced at Rs 1.4 lakh in India.
The new version of 3Ds Max 4 incorporates a host of new features including,
extensible kinematics architecture, next generation gaming environment,
productivity enhancements and integration with Discreet’s desktop 3D
compositing. The company has also released Edit 6, which is a professional,
offline/online non-linear package with advanced editing, graphics and effects
creation, offering integration with other Discreet non-linear solutions.
"With its scaleable architecture and flexible configuration options,
Edit 6 can be used offline or online for short or long-form project work in an
independent or networked non-linear editing environment. We are pricing it at
around Rs 3.6 lakh for the Indian customers," said Discreet’s regional
manager (South Asia) Pankaj Kedia.
Discreet was established in 1999, after Autodesk acquired Discreet Logic Inc.
and merged its operations with Kinetics. Discreet now develops systems and
software for visual effects, 3D animation, editing and broadcast. Some of the
firm’s customers in India include CNBC, Pentamedia Graphics, Balaji Telefilms,
NDTV, Sun TV, B4Uand SAB TV.
