BANGALORE: US-based Digite, which recently released its product that looks at software development lifecycle management, is hoping to piggyback on the Indian IT services industry's Global Delivery Model (GDM) to gain market share in India.

Arvind Khungar, VP, business development said, “We have built in the capability of process institutionalization on our platform, which allows Indian companies that are on an expansion spree to install their regular processes internationally.”

Khungar said that the market was evolving from management of product and portfolio management to incorporating the execution layer. “Companies are looking for a strong integration and alignment between an IT company's development team and the executive team.”

Digite's competitors in the highly fragmented software development lifecycle management space include companies like IBM, Oracle, Niku (recently acquired by Computer Associates) and Primavera.

Khungar said that unlike IBM which has a collection of different products to manage software delivery, Digite offers an integrated platform that encompasses product portfolio management as well as software lifecycle management, while offering a lower cost of ownership for the customer.”

He said that the company has increased its user base by around 400% from last year. In this forthcoming product version, the company would be looking at aspects like enhancing internationalization support, and process compliances like CMMI, ITIL and Sarbannes-Oxley.

Digite's clients in India include Infosys, HCL Technologies, KPIT, Dun & Bradstreet and Aztec Software. The company, which is headquartered in the US, and has development centers in Mumbai and Bangalore, plans to go market its products aggressively in APAC & Europe.

“We have made some in-roads in Europe and would enter the China, Taiwan and Australia market soon,” said Khungar. The company has developed the Chinese version of its product, which would be launched soon.
