HYDERABAD: DVD technology developer Digital Video Systems Inc. is entering India next month with a facility located in Bangalore. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California DVS has factories in South Korea and China and claims to have over 32 percent of the world market share in DVDs.

With a production of 18 million DVD boxes per year, the company's products were being made available in India through brands such as LG and Hyundai. Now the company has decided to enter the Indian market and reportedly, the Indian arm is to be called DVS Electronics India. The center is going to be headed by Lalith Ahuja, who was formerly associated with LG.

It is also said that Hyderabad-based MIC Electronics, which has made a recent foray in manufacturing set top boxes with South Africa based UEC Technologies, has decided to work with DVS Electronics India on a solution where digital video technology is made available on the set top boxes. However, the officials at MIC refused to confirm or deny the development.
