BANGALORE: Dharma Systems of the US, a developer and marketer of data access
technology since 1987, has developed Dharma eUnify, a solution that enables
applications integration. By integrating information stored in legacy,
client/server and PC applications as well as multiple databases, Dharma eUnify
simplifies the creation of new applications that support CRM (Customer
Relationship Management) and e-business initiatives.
Speaking about the solution, Dharma Computers Pvt. Ltd. manager-strategic
marketing M Muralidhar said, "Through Dharma eUnify, one can use the
existing applications to make it Web enabled. It provides access to information
using industry standard SQL query techniques via ODBC and its Java equivalent
(JDBC). Developers need very little training for using it. This eliminates the
need for in-house custom data access coding, knowledge of proprietary tools or
learning complex application interfaces. The solution easily integrates with
other Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technologies, enabling the
sharing and updating of information throughout the organization. Implementation
of Dharma eUnify requires no change in the customer’s existing IT
infrastructure and minimal staff involvement. Specifically, Dharma engineers
perform a requirement analysis during which required information sources are
identified. They then select and implement connection technologies and create
the unified metadata and business rules required to forge a unified view.
Industry standard query tools are used to access the unified information."
Dharma eUnify comprises the following modules: Dharma Integrator, which takes
application requests in the form of SQL queries, optimizes the distributed query
structure and distributes execution to the appropriate information sources. It
can interact with any tool that generates SQL queries. Dharma DataLink, a
customizable link that allows simplified access to unique application data in a
variety of formats, including indexed, flat, log and XML. Dharma Applink links
proprietary or packaged transaction applications to the Dharma Integrator. It
creates a relational view of the application information. Applink connects
applications such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and those based on CICS
(Customer Information Control System).
Currently focusing on the US market, Dharma is testing existing market
opportunities in India. It expects to reach total revenue of $200 million in
next two to three years. The company is planning to make its Bangalore center as
the regional center for Asia-Pacific markets. It also plans to have a marketing
office in Australia shortly.
