Devices of tomorrow from Intel!

NEW DELHI, INDIA: As they say: If it computes, if it connects, it's best on Intel! Intel organised a mobility roadshow in New Delhi, where it discussed the 2-in-1 new category of computing, as well as devices of tomorrow.

Tablet growth and potential

Currently, Asia Pacific and Japan represents 15 percent of global tablet demand. By 2017, Asia Pacific will reach one fifth of global demand. Intel has been making Asia Pacific and Japan the fastest growing region in the world for tablets.

Tablet demand across Asia Pacific and Japan will be up 32 percent year-on-year in 2014. India, Indonesia, Japan and Australia will equate to 59 percent of this tablet demand growth.

According to Intel's tablet demand in India forecast for 2014, tablets will likely grow 16 percent. There are 200 million middle-class potential customers in India alone.

The 2-in-1 is a new category of computing. It is a tablet when you want it,

laptop when you need it.

Intel has seen 4X growth in 2014 in tablets. It also has the fastest growing architecture in mobile with over 130 designs available in over 150 countries. There are new tablets from $99-$500 available. Today's mobile devices offer consumers competitive capabilities.

Intel's 2014 foundational platform includes Clover Trail+ and Bay Trail. Bay Trail platform updates in 2014 include those for value and entry market

in 1H 2014 and performance updates in 2H 2014. Intel boasts of tablet partners such as ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and several ODMs. In its vertical approach, there are enterprise usage models as well.

Devices of tomorrow

The Merrifield and Moorefield processors will drive Intel's devices for tomorrow. Merrifield is a dual-core processor, available from H1-14 onward.

Moorefield and Cherry Trail are quad-core processors, available in H2-14 and EoY-14, respectively.

In its value and entry platform portfolio, Intel will be coming out with the SoFIA 3G, having integrated 3G with dual core Atom processor in Q4-14. The SoFIA 3G-R platform, having integrated 3G with quad core Atom processor, as well as the SoFIA LTE platform, having integrated LTE with qua core Atom should be available in H1-15.
