Desi WiFi notebooks enter the fray

NEW DELHI: Claiming to be the #1 Indian notebook vendor, Zenith India Ltd launched its WiFi notebooks along with Intel. Based on Centrino Technology, this notebook comes in two models, 4x priced at Rs 73,000 and x priced at Rs 84,000.





Weighing about two kilos each, they have a 30 GB hard disk, DVD player/CD writer combo drives along with various standard feature of a laptop.



Zenith CMD, Raj Saraf said that it wants to aim every segment of laptop market through this value product. "The USP of this product is that it gives excellent value for money and has a name of one of the best hardware companies in India," he added.



Talking about negating the competition, he said, "MNC brands use the same components as we do, but are not able to generate the same price point. With this, we give our channel partners enough profit margins and in fact export our products to other countries too."



He did not speak much about the targets set for the laptops but wants to up it from its present contribution of about 1,800 a year, increase the sales quarter on quarter by 25 percent and is targeting an annual turnover of Rs 300 crore. It has also launched a 1600-helpline number for customer care for these laptops. Talking about the future, he said that there would soon be few more new products announcements.

These laptops do not come with any OS uploaded and cost will be added on this MRP.



The Model WiFi -4x Notebook is based on Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, Pentium-M 1.4 Ghz Processor, 855GM chipset , 256MB DDR 266-SDRAM on board expandable with combination of optional 256MB/512MB memory, Intel Extreme Graphics, Intel Wireless LAN (802.11b) and 14.1 inch LCD TFT.





The higher end Model WiFi -5x Notebook is based on Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, Pentium-M 1.4 Ghz Processor, 855GM chipset , 128MB DDR 266-SDRAM expandable upto 1GB, Intel Extreme Graphics, Intel Wireless LAN (802.11b) and 15 inch LCD TFT.
