Dell’s new dimension desktop computers

BANGALORE: Dell India unveiled a range of three new Dimension desktop computers aimed at the home and small business segment in India.

Available in three models, the Dell Dimension E520, E521 and C521, the new range offers choices of sizes, processors and graphics, making it easier for customers to personalize PCs to their specific needs, ranging from entertainment to office applications. 
 
Rajan Anandan, vice-president & general manager, Dell India said, "This launch marks the expansion of Dell’s strategic focus to the home and small business in India. We have built a leadership position amongst large corporates and are now gearing up to address the exciting opportunities in the home and small business market."

The Dimension E520 and E521 desktop systems are highly expandable and upgradeable, while the Dimension C521 offers mainstream entertainment features at approximately half the size of the Dimension E520 and E521.

The new systems are also Microsoft Windows Vista capable, designed to run the visual, networking and security enhancements of the Windows Vista operating system when available from Microsoft. 

Dell has also introduced web pages specific to the home and small business segment on its India website [www.dell.co.in]. These pages will allow customers to research products and pricing as well as customize and configure a product online.

"Our objective is to provide a rich Internet experience to customers who visit our website. Once they have researched and configured a product to their specifications, they can either email, fax or call our toll free line at 1 800 425 4026 to place their orders. A Dell sales person will instantly reach out to them to fulfill their order," said Anandan.

The new Dell Dimension range of desktops provides a breadth of choice that makes it easy for customers to personalize technology to meet their office productivity or entertainment needs today and in the future.

The Dimension E520, E521 and C521 desktops provide a number of performance features, multimedia options and designs, many driven by direct customer feedback. Each desktop ships standard with Microsoft Windows XP Home, and offers a choice of configurations and sizes that can be customized to run nearly any multimedia application.  Dell QuietCase technology allows each system to operate quietly in homes or offices.

Depending on the model, customers can select dual-core technology such as Intel Core 2 Duo processors and for the first time from Dell, AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors to enable streaming music, watching movies and calculating spreadsheets simultaneously.  The new Dell Intel dual-core systems can also deliver better performance while drawing less power than previous-generation products. 

Multimedia options range from integrated 7.1 audio and graphics to ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards for 3-D games, to optional media card reader to better manage and enjoy digital content. 

Additional Dimension E520 and E521 features include:

· Up to two hard drives including Dell SecureData Backup for data protection and backup/restore options

· Options for sound cards and an IEEE 1394 port

· Dimension E520-specific: Intel Pentium® D and Core 2 Duo processor options, eight USB ports, and four slots (one x16 PCIe, one x1 PCIe and two PCI)

· Dimension E521-specific: AMD Sempron™, Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 processor options; six USB ports, and four slots (one x16 PCIe, one x1 PCIe and two PCI)

Additional Dimension C521 features include:

· Slim yet expandable design, about half the size of the Dimension E520 and E521

· AMD Sempron, Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 processor options

· Choice of single optical and hard drives

· Six USB 2.0 ports, three slots (one x16 PCIe, one x1 PCIe and one PCI)

The new Dimension E520 and Dimension E521 are available worldwide with one-year Next-Business-Day warranty, priced at Rs 35, 900 and Rs 36, 900 (sales taxes extra) respectively. The Dimension C521 system is available with 90-day Limited warranty starting at Rs 30, 900.
