NEW DELHI: Dell has announced the launch of two Dell precision workstations based on new core architecture that is designed to deliver levels of processor, graphics and storage performance. The Dell Precision 470 and 670 also debut new processor technology that brings the customers the power of 64-bit computing with the ability to run all of today's 32-bit applications.

According to product marketing director of OptiPlex and Precision for Asia Pacific Robert Vinokurov, the company is going to market its product through direct selling and would target medium and large business corporates.

The company also announced two new corporate desktop computer systems that feature new designs and several key technologies for increased performance. The OptiPlex GX 280 and OptiPlex SX 280 systems feature the new Intel Pentium 4 500 family of processors and 915 G express chipset with a full suite of new technologies that complement a new architecture that deliver more performance and headroom for future needs.

According to the company, Dell Precision 470 and 670 workstations enable more performance intensive design applications to manipulate larger more complex models in the past by breaking 4GB memory barrier of today's systems and accessing up to 16 GB of memory. The platforms capability with legacy 32-bit applications will allow customers to deploy a 64-bit operating system and still run 32-bit applications across their entire enterprise.

The new platforms include DDR2, the next generation memory architecture and PCI Express, an efficient serial I/O architecture. DDR2 optimizes the new desktop architecture by satisfying the increased demands of faster processors, graphics and I/O systems. The Dell Precision 670 starts at Rs 1,13,321 and the Dell Precision 470 starts at Rs 96,547.

The OptiPlex GX280 and OptiPlex SX280 feature DDR2 memory, the next generation memory architecture that will support up to double the memory of today's DDR technology. They feature four different form factors that are image compatible and easy to service and manage. The mainstream GX280 is available in three form factors that can be deployed to users with a wide range of performance size and expansion requirements. The OptiPlex GX280 starts at 53,785 and OptiPlex SX280 starts at 57,033.
