Dell launches services to protect SMB data

HYDERABAD, INDIA: Dell today announced that it has extended its ProSupport Mobility Services, a suite of modular asset and data protection services for Indian small and medium businesses.

Designed to protect the PCs as well as the critical data stored in them, ProSupport Mobility offers access, security and support to ensure high availability of IT resources – which in turn is imperative for the SMBs to run their business profitably and productively, said a press release.

After the launch of ProSupport services last year that moved away from the industry mold of traditional one-size-fits all approach, the new ProSupport Mobility services help protect the data and assets anywhere in the world. 

Tim Griffin, vice president, Global SMB Services, Dell said, “Companies spend too much time managing their PCs, servers and storage – we are out to change that with solutions that improve staff productivity, cut costs and ensure security of critical information.”

He added, “Channel services will be a great way for our partners to make money through an expanded portfolio beyond hardware, improve their margins and offer a differentiation to their customers using Dell proven technologies."

Dell has three major services categories for its SMB customers – ProSupport, ProManage and ProConsult.

Dell ProSupport is a 100 per cent configurable suite of professional support services with two key models – Dell ProSupport for IT, often used by large companies that have specialized help desks with IT pros; and Dell ProSupport for End Users that offers comprehensive support solutions that address everyday IT challenges.

This combines hardware support with support for popular software applications to offer the customer with a one-point support contact and is especially useful for companies that do not have the necessary staff to support IT systems or a 24x7 support, said the release.

“ProSupport, along with ProManage and ProConsult that will soon be available in India, offer a full suite of services for SMBs ranging from on-call support to remote network management,” said Griffin.

He further added that services offered are customizable to meet individual customer needs, and  affordable . And they are doing it through the cloud – Web-based services that are affordable, reliable, easy to turn up or down based on the customers specific needs.
