Dell India MD quits company

BANGALORE, INDIA: Romi Malhotra, managing director of Dell India, has quit the company after serving the position for three years.

Ganesh Lakshminarayan, who is currently vice president of Dell contact center, will replace him as the new managing director for India operations.

Prior to Dell, Malhotra had been leading SCOPE, the BPO unit of Standard Chartered, Chennai. He had joined Dell International Services as MD and VP in 2000 and during his tenure Dell had undergone a major expansion in India.

From two centers in Bangalore and Hyderabad it now has two more centers in Chandigarh and Gurgaon. The company had increased from 5000 to 14,000 in headcount and now plans to increase to 20,000 by end of this year.

Malhotra’s plans for the future are not immediately known.
