Dell brings Venue smartphones with Android and Windows OS

BANGALORE, INDIA: Dell today introduced two new smart phones to India market - Venue and Venue Pro - based in Android and Windows Phone 7 platforms respectively. The new handsets come with powerful cameras and designed for easy social-networking and entertainment.

While Venue, a touch phone, is based on Android 2.2 and comes with a 8-mega pixel camera. Venue Pro is based on Windows Phone 7 and has vertical QWERTY keypad. It also comes with XBOX Live and pre-loaded work/life applications but has a 5-mega pixel camera.

Both the handsets are powered by 1 GHz processors and emphasis on speed sharing of images and videos. A combination of high speed access and Swype for fast text input makes viewing e-mail, editing documents, and surfing the web fast.

In addition Venue Pro features high-speed 3.5G wireless, and cloud-based services.

Why Dell choose to offer two different platforms ? Mahesh Bhalla, executive director and GM, CSMB, Dell said that Dell is committed to provide the best technologies to  users, so we are coming with different operating systems with the same model.

In future too we will evolve the product based on latest technologies, he said when asked weather Dell will go with Android or Windows platform for its gadgets.

Both the new smartphones have wide 10.4 cm (4.1 - inch) screen. For easy viewing Dell has introduced high-contrast AMOLED display with curved corning Gorilla Glass to make video watching and performing business applications comfortable.

Network service provider Aircel, has entered into a partnership with Dell to offer goodies to Venue and Venue Pro users who opt from the Aircel service. The goodies include exclusive data plans, PocketApps store apart  from content and VAS services.
