Dell banks on acquisition

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Dell that offers innovative technology and business offering is optimistic that its acquisition will facilitate customers with a variety of customized solutions. The company said that next generation storage is driving profound increase in storage efficiency.


In the wake of growing competency levels, six major storage vendors have acquired 12 companies since 2010. Dell is banking high on its consolidation of acquired companies and storage technology innovations. Of late, the storage major has shifted its focus to storage arena and adopted aggressive strategy.

S Sridhar, director, marketing, Dell India said that seamless scalability of storage creates long-term investment protection. "We have crossed 28,000 customers worldwide in March this year. The company undertakes long exercise while implementing storage solution for customers," he said.


Dell has acquired three companies since 2010 in storage domain, while the acquisition of Compellent Technologies in Feb, 2011 is apparently crucial for storage major. "The companies that we acquired were not scaling up. Now we have complete portfolio and ability to provide complimentary solutions," added Sridhar. 

The company said that it offers unified architecture which is good for customers. Dell is banking on fluid data architecture which it took from Compellent. "It has rich features set that saves capex and opex," informed Amit Luthra, national manager for storage solution marketing at Dell India.

Luthra said that EqualLogic PS and FS series are uncomplicated and versatile as well as facilitates scale out and array evacuation. Both Compellent and EqualLogic technologies complement each other as they have similar core values. He also said that PowerVault gives value and performance and offers protection and recovery.

Dell also announced intelligent data management (IDM) solutions that can help customers to overcome challenges related to data storage and management. The company is also helping organizations to increase IT staff efficiency with its comprehensive IDM strategy.
