Delhi Police gets a tech boost from HCL

NEW DELHI, INDIA: HCL Infosystems Limited, an IT service provider said that it has provided a technology to equip the police force to access automated information that travels faster helping the police to reach crime scene immediately.

The Union Minister Shivraj Patil and Lt Governor of Delhi Tajendra Khanna recently inaugurated the new Central Police Control Room at PHQ, Delhi, said a press release.

The control room consists of the state-of-the-art multimedia contact center. The modern Control Room can also track all PCR vans fitted with GPS devices and coordinate their movement to help public, it added.

It has modernized the police control room through information and communication technology (ICT).

George Paul, executive vice president, HCL Infosystems Ltd, said, “Today with the increasing threat perception and the need to protect lives and secure infrastructure, effective utilization of ICT for information enabling and empowering police services is an area of key importance.”

The dial 100 solution contains calling line identification (CLI) and direct inward dialing (DID) to help in identification and routing. It also provides connectivity to mobile PCR vans through two-way radios/GPRS, the release added.

The dial 100 solutions automated the police control rooms that helped in round-the-clock availability, proper dissemination of information, immediate responses to calls, online links with emergency services and also increased the efficiency of the organization.

It allows conferencing facilities with other emergency services and also helps to reduce the number of hoax calls. It provides connectivity to the missing persons and vehicles databases and also offers a customized reporting of call center performances, it said.

The solutions have been successfully rolled out in 22 cities across India that includes metros like Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, the release added.
