Delhi has only 15 MHz of 3G spectrum available

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Union Minster of Communication and Information Technology A. Raja said Delhi has only 15 Mhz of 3G spectrum available making it possible only for three telecom operators to offer such services.

In a to a question on 3-G availability in the country the Minster said Mumbai has 30 MHz, while Tamil Nadu/Chennai has 60, Kolkata 50, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala 60 each. Rajasthan has no spectrum available at all.

Raja also said an empowered Group of Ministers (eGOM) has been constituted to look into issues relating to 3G spectrum Auction which inter-alia includes administrative charges on 3G Spectrum.

The spectrum availability for other service areas is as follows: Haryana - 40 MHz, Punjab - 35 MHz, Maharastra - 30 MHz, Bihar - 30 MHz, MHz Madhya Pradesh - 40 MHz, Orrisa - 60 MHz, Assam - 30 MHz, Gujarat - 15 MHz, Uttar Pradesh (East) 25 MHz, Uttar Pradesh (West) 20, Himachal Pradesh 20 MHz, North East - 5 MHz, West Bengal -10 MHz, Jammu & Kashmir - 25 MHz.
