Currently, the applications are under development stage. The government is expected to go public with citizen-centric services applications such as public distribution system (PDS) and driving license delivery within next two years.

Speaking to CIOL, Santulan Chaubey, Additional GM (GSDL), IT at Delhi Government, said that mobile penetration has increased drastically and they are optimistic, as it is the most happening arena in technology.

“We are developing applications with a focus on citizen-oriented services for the benefit of the common man,” he said. Without disclosing the timeframe, Chaubey, however, said that the information related to services like ration card would be a prime objective.

“The mobile device is just a tool on which multiple applications can run,” said Chaubey. In IT, we can’t foretell what is to be expected since there is a lot of in-house work that include development and testing, he added.

According to him, the government is targeting citizen-centric services. “Whatever the effort that we are investing, is for the advancement of citizens so that they could commute less and get hassle-free services,” Chaubey concluded.
