Delhi Government gets new IT Secretary

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Delhi Government today announced that it has appointed Rajendra Kumar as its new IT Secretary. He replaces Savitur Prasad, a 1983 batch IAS officer, who has been moved to defense accounts.

Rajendra Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer, completed his B Tech (Electrical) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in 1988 and then got his Masters degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila (Philippines).

Kumar served the Delhi government administration in various capacities, including the post of Director — Education in Delhi Government. He also worked at Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Secretary-cum-Commissioner as well as Administrator in Lakshadweep.

Prior to joining Delhi government’s IT Secretariat, he was heading Delhi Transco Limited and was also Secretary, Power in the Delhi Government. Rajendra Kumar has undertaken various roles and responsibilities and served Delhi Power Company as CMD and Indraprastha Power Generation Company as chairman.
